Post Anime North

Sunday, June 2nd, 2013

It’s been a week since AN and I’m still tired… *sigh* But nevertheless it was an awesome convention and we had a great time. Thank you to all who visited our booth and I hope the ones that brought home something with them enjoy their purchases. We got a surprisingly amount of praise for our craftsmanship (you guys are just too nice *tear*) and that alone was worth the work :) But it wasn’t just us that prepared for the convention! Our little creations did too!

Here’s a little snippet:

Ninja Army – suspicious and ready to go!

Corn Dookies – in (bowling pin?) formation!

Sidetracked by ping pong… Luckily the game didn’t last too long as pokeballs (while good for catching them all) do not make good ping pong balls…

I hope everyone enjoyed the convention as much as we did. And again, on behalf of the BLM crew at and Silver Dreams, a giant THANK YOU!

Broken Needle

Sunday, February 24th, 2013

The needle snapped on me!  I guess it shows how hard I’m working this year on crafts for Anime North 2013’s Craft’s Corner, haha.

Big Thank You from BLM

Monday, May 28th, 2012

Hi all!

On behalf of myself and my partners, I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to all who stopped by our table! This is not our first time attending Anime North, but it is our first time displaying our crafts at the convention and you made it so memorable for us. Thanks for liking our crafts! ^^

For those who are wondering if we will still be selling our poops and other crafts on our website, the answer is yes. The poops and other crafts were made just for the convention but since they are so loved by you all, we decided to continue making them. We will try to update our website as soon as possible, in the meantime please follow us on the blog for more updates. If there is something you saw at our table that you wanted but it was either sold out or you didn’t get a chance to get it at the end, you are welcome to request them by commenting on this post.

Again, thank you all for coming!

Perhaps we will see you again at Anime North 2013! :D

Listening To: Etsuko Nishio – Don’t Make Me Wild Like You

Yes, I am listening to Ranma 1/2’s opening theme song for Season 1. Gosh I love that anime, I really wish I got my hands on the rest of the series. My friend only managed to get at least 3 Seasons of that show. So sad T_T

As you all know, if you read the last blog entry, we are going to be at the Craft’s Corner @ Anime North 2012 this year! :) I’ve been meeting up with moldysquash and our other partner in crime at her house crafting every weekend last year, but then winter came and everyone got super busy, until recently we started to meet up a bit more because Anime North is around the corner and some of us haven’t been able to craft as much as we expected (point at self orz). SO! I decided, I’m going to bring all the fabric and other materials back home and craft there! I told and promised moldysquash that I’ll make so and so amount of plushies because I have a sewing machine and it’s faster than her hand sewing it (props for hand sewing (”’¬.¬)o). Honestly, I haven’t touched my sewing machine in years! I’m not even sure where it is in the house but thank god Mom was able to find the machine for me. After the machine was found, I didn’t work on the crafting right away, I’ve been pulling off crafting because I was over exhausted working full time and part time at the same time and I just wanted to rest and do nothing. Anyways I ended up crafting last minute, when I mean last minute, I meant I have to meet my quota by the very next day because I will be meeting up with moldysquash and our other partner in crime. Truthfully, I wasn’t too worried about not getting everything done as said because I do have my trusty sewing machine…or at least that’s what I thought. I opened the dusty box and took the sewing machine out and put it on the table. It took me 5 seconds to realized something wasn’t right. WHERE ON THE EARTH IS THE POWER CORD?! That’s when I started to worry about not being about to meet my quota. Mom also have no idea where it is, therefore the sewing machine was HOPELESS. T___T; Not to fret! I could at least cut all the patterns right? =.= FAIL! The scissor I had, which I thought would be tough enough to cut the fabric, is poop! It took me forever to cut the patterns. So I totally gave up and told moldysquash about what happen. So girls and boys, do not do things last minute! >.> Save yourself from embarrassment! orz

Here’s a teaser of what we will be selling tomorrow ;)

moldysquash and I will be cosplaying on Saturday and Sunday, please come visit us and guess who we are dressed up as! :D

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

I’m very excited about Anime North this year since it’s the first year my friends have a table at the Crafter’s Corner. We’ll be selling plushies, jewelry and other handmade goodies. Come visit our BLM Cafe! :D

I’m also offering 10% off all items in my store for those who would like to meet-up at the convention. Please fill out an order form as per usual and state in the comments section that you’d like to do an Anime North meet-up for the items, I’ll put the items on hold and bring them to the convention.

Decoden Whipped Cream

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

The thought of using silicone for my decoden projects scare the heck out of me so I set off on a quest to make my own or at least find another suitable medium.

First off, you can buy clay whipped cream, some brands come with tips and are ready to use which is awesome like fuwa fuwa, decollage, etc, but the problem is they’re crazily expensive.

So next, I tried modeling paste. I got two brands, Golden and Tri-art:

– Tri-art has the perfect colour, it dries completely snow white and I love the texture. It dries a bit “sharper” as in the peaks hold shape extremely well. However, it shrinks like a *beep beep*. I was so sad when I saw how it dried. It’s honestly completely unusable if you need a thick layer or want to make a larger piece because of how much it shrinks. It should be fine if you’re using a thin layer to cover say a box or a flat surface.

_ Golden has a nice, creamy look, doesn’t shrink and dries faster than Tri-art, but it’s got a grey tint. Why??? It’s more than twice the price of Tri-art too. I’m going to try to add colour to it and hopefully it’ll be usable.

So moving on, I tried making whipped cream out of paper clay and glue. That didn’t turn out too well as the cream turned out lumpy (I could still see the paper fibres) and adding modelling paste to the mixture didn’t help :( Maybe I’m just using the wrong brand of clay, I’m going to give it another try with Hearty, Modena, and maybe even Sculpey if I get desperate – but I don’t want to bake >.<;;. If anyone has suggestions or would like reviews of other brands of clay, feel free to leave a comment. I also have Grace and Arista on hand.

Anyways, onwards with experimenting and a crappy picture cuz I'm too lazy to break out my SLR:

A Little of Everything

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Got a computer virus a few days ago, spent many hours backing up files, formatting, etc, etc. Ugh! And my computer is still not reconfigured the way I like, why did you take away my old style start menu??? >.>;;

But on the same day, I received my order from modes4u which cheered me up a little. It took about 8 days which isn’t too bad and I did manage to dodge the customs fees bullet :D The items weren’t packed as well as I though it would be, just came in a plastic bag and a paper envelope but nothing was damaged so it’s all good.

Now I have all my materials I can start making stuff :D Which I need to find motivation for because of Mickey Yoochun and Rooftop Prince, I’m absolutely addicted to this drama right now. I kind of wished I started it after it was completed, I hate waiting for each week for new episodes ;_________;
